On November 6, 2024, the Utah Society Board of Managers approved the request to charter a new chapter, which would be called the Point of the Mountain Chapter that would include areas within a portion of Salt Lake County and all of Utah County. The application for charter with 18 compatriot names was submitted to National for recording of the new chapter and its members.
On January 18, 2025, the Point of the Mountain Chapter met to formalize its organization through a ceremony for this purpose. A heavy snow storm occurred that morning making it challenging for members and guests to attend.
After welcoming visitors and guests, Utah Society SAR President Trent Grandy began the ceremony to make the POM Chapter “official.” The words of this ceremony are very thought-provoking. The prospective chapter members affirmed their desire to form this new chapter. With that done, President Grandy installed the new chapter officers:
L/R: Matt Krebs, James Harwell, David Rainey, Mark Jacobsen, Joshua Elliott, Devear Satterfield, Ken Jacobsen, Bill Simpson
Before the ceremony began, two new members were inducted into the Sons of the American Revolution: Devear Satterfield and Ken Jacobsen.
L/R: Chapter Color Guard Commander Joshua Elliott, Compatriot Devear Satterfield, Chapter President Bill Simpson, Compatriot Ken Jacobsen and Color Guard Drummer Trent Grandy
