President’s Message

Greetings!

President Bill Simpson

As the newly installed President of the Utah Society Sons of the American Revolution I welcome you to our website and hope that you take time to explore the pages it contains. For those of you who do not know who we are, I recommend viewing the About Us section to learn the history and purpose of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), as well as that of the Utah SAR. Take time to explore the links on this and other pages.

If you are seeking information about how to join, you should be able to find some very helpful information and resources that may aid you in becoming a member of our society. If you are uncertain as to whether or not you are a lineal descendant of a qualifying ancestor, contact our Genealogist, who will do his best to assist you. Pages that are included in this section of our site outline the kinds of documentation necessary for you to apply for membership. Here you will also find some research aids within the Resources section as well.

Do you have an interest in becoming a member of the American Revolution color guard? The Utah SAR has an active color guard that upholds our founding heritage by inspiring and informing our fellow citizens about the principles on which our nation was founded. The color guard participates in local community parades, sporting events, supporting the annual Utah Patriot Camp program during the summer, honoring our veterans, as well as larger events such as Stadium of Fire 4th of July celebration in the city of Provo, and the tremendous patriotic program for youth – Liberty Trek.

Are you interested in recognizing the youth in our communities through the Eagle Scout Recognition program, the Junior ROTC and Sea Cadet programs in high schools, or even those in your neighborhood who proudly and consistently display our nation’s flag?

Some who may have an interest in joining but have concerns about the time commitment involved, we welcome you at whatever activity level you may have at the present. We are seeking you who have passion for liberty, freedom and an interest in, as it states on our site, “perpetuating the memory of those, who by their services or sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution, achieved the independence of the American People.”

Yours in Liberty,

Bill Simpson
President
